Pastoral Care
The Pastoral Care Department functions as a tangible extension of the Senior Pastor by addressing the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual concerns of the Temple of Joy congregation.
Matthew 25:35-40 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me
Ministers
Deacon & Deaconess -The ultimate aim of the deacon's work should be to develop the spiritual lives of individual members of the congregation, and to help preserve the purity of the church that she may be a bright light to the world. The work of deacon and deaconess involves a noble calling, and thus there are high qualifications for those who are chosen for the responsibility.
Hospital & Homebound - The Hospital & Homebound Team is comprised of volunteers who visit, encourage, and pray with Temple of Joy families in the hospital
The purpose of the Hospital Visitation Team of The Temple of Joy is to provide support for hospitalized members and their attending family.
More specifically, the Hospital Visitation Ministry exists to
- ensure that all members of the congregation and their attending family are offered the presence of a lay volunteer/lay chaplain before and during surgery;
- ensure that those who are hospitalized for extended periods receive regular follow up visits and calls; and
- ensure that any member, who is hospitalized for whatever reason, receives a visit or phone call.
We make every effort to be with our membership in times of hospitalization. If you will be having a surgical procedure, please let us know so that we can make arrangements to be with you before and during the surgery.
